After installation, to make a slideshow on homepage, please go to CMS->Manage Page, choose your cms homepage, and add this line of code to where you want to show banner slider:
{{block type='bannerslider/bannerslider' template='bannerslider/bannerslider.phtml'}}

What is the difference - .com, .org, .net, .biz & .info & all the others?

World Wide Generic Domains: InterNIC definitions
Originally, it was suggested that .COM be used primarily for commercial businesses, .NET for network related organizations and .ORG for nonprofit groups. This quickly became unworkable and consequently, in the case of.COM.NET and .ORG, a decision was made to rely on registrants to choose the TLD (Top Level Domain) they wish.In fact, many registrants (domain owners) order their domain name as .COM.NET and .ORG..COM.NET and .ORG are unrestricted open domains.

WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR .EDU?
Formerly, the .EDU domain was reserved for 4-year, degree-granting colleges and universities.
Now, Eligibility for a .EDU domain name is limited to regionally-accredited, degree-granting institutions of higher education that are accredited by one of the six U.S. regional accrediting agencies. Each such institution may hold only a single name in the .EDU domain.
This change means that community colleges, are now eligible for .EDU names.
Please register .edu domains here .

WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR .GOV?
Registration in the .GOV domain is available to official governmental organizations in the United States including Federal, State, and local governments, and Native Sovereign Nations.
Please register .gov domains here .

Domain Register allows people, on a global basis, to search for available .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .us, .asia, .eu, .am, .ag, .at, .be, .bz, .cc, .ch, .co, .com.co, .net.co, .nom.co, .cx, .cz, .de, .fm, .gd, .gs, .hn, .in, .co.in, .net.in, .org.in, .firm.in, .gen.in, .ind.in, .la, .lc, .li, .me, .mn, .mobi, .ms, .mx, .com.mx, .co.nz, .net.nz, .org.nz, .pl, .sc, .tc, .tv, .tw, .com.tw, .net.tw, .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, domain names. This is also called URL registration, web name, website name, custom domain registration, dns registration services, net names registration, internet identity registration, or even sometimes internet business name registration.

Jquery Content Slider

Not Connected: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'(2)

1. Mysql Configuration Issue
2. Server admin or Installation person can check this.

Possible Reasons

1. Disk can fulled
2. check if that file available /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock

Development Side Solution:

Solution 1

try using the local ip address (127.0.0.1) instead of 'localhost' in mysql_connect().
This "forces" php to connect through TCP/IP instead of a unix socket.

Configuration Side Solutions:

Solution 2

If your file my.cnf (usually in the etc folder) is correctly configured with

socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock

you can check if mysql is running with the following command:

mysqladmin -u root -p status

try changing your permission to mysql folder. If you are working locally, you can try:

sudo chmod -R 777 /var/lib/mysql/

Solutions 3

--Check your mysqld service is running or not, if not run, start the service.

--still your problem isn't solved, look for /etc/my.cnf. and modify as following, where you see a line starts with socket. Take a backup of that file before doing this update.

socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock

    change to

 socket=/opt/lampp/var/mysql/mysql.sock -u root

Solutions 4:

Try and open up your /etc/my.cnf file and see if you can find this:

[mysql.server]
user=mysql
basedir=/var/lib

Comment out the basedir variable so that it looks like this:

[mysql.server]
user=mysql
#basedir=/var/lib

Then try and restart mysql and see if that fixes it.

Magento 6 Illegal scheme supplied, only alphanumeric characters are permitted

Just run as

https://127.0.0.1/magento in localhost.

Magento 6 localhost issue can change to 127.0.0.1

First thing you got to do is look for a file named Varien.php which is located same way as the following.

[magento_url]\app\code\core\Mage\Core\Model\Session\Abstract\Varien.php

In my case, magento_url represents 'c:\wamp\www\magento'.

Using your text-editor, open the said file. Look for the code around line 78 that reads 'session_set_cookie_params(...);'. Then enclose the entire code block inside a multi-line Comment (/* ... */).

It should look something like the following.

// set session cookie params
/*
session_set_cookie_params(
    $this->getCookie()->getLifetime(),
    $this->getCookie()->getPath()
    $this->getCookie()->getDomain(),
    $this->getCookie()->isSecure(),
    $this->getCookie()->getHttponly()
);
*/

Well there you have it. This is the shortest workaround I've found in Magento Forums. Once you get this working, you'll never have to replace http://localhost/ into http://127.0.0.1/ ever again. If you're not convinced, try running another fresh installation of Magento. Fix Varien.php, then access the backend or admin section. You'll be surprised the problem's gone!

This piece of solution is offered for development purposes only. This might not be a good idea for a production environment. Please bear that in mind.
